We all know a woman that deserves more than the world could ever offer. We ourselves as females have been subjected to pushback from society in all aspects of life, but because women are stronger than what were given credit for, we push through like a bulldozer keeping our chin up and our crowns straight. I’ve met so many other women in my life that have hustled their way through life with work, kids, school, and significant others to think about. Only a woman could handle that much pressure and somehow still have enough muscle strength to smile at the end of the day.
My mother and I have had a very rough battle for the last six months with my recently diagnosed autoimmune disease. There is no strength like holding it together while watching your one and only child scream and cry from agonizing pain. We pushed though because it’s written in our genes to do so. My mom raised me as a single mother. That’s not an easy job! Single moms not only have to take care of their kids, but they also have to take care of bills, their careers, and somehow keep it to when things get rough.
Yall, we have it hard, and its okay to admit that sometimes.
We have menstrual cycles that drives us nuts! We carry children which puts major stress on our bodies, yet is the most beautiful experience in life. We were made to withstand struggle, even though sometimes a woman does grow weary and may even feel weak. We stand together to hold each other up when times get rough, and when we want nothing more than to lean on someone for a change than for someone leaning on them.
It is written in a woman’s genetic code to assert power and strength because we’ve been labeled as less than for eternity. Katherine Johnson, Mae Jamison, Gloria Steinem, Dorothy Pittman Hughes these women created things, made differences, and challenge the absurd theory that there are some things only a man can do.
When a woman stands up for her rights, she stands for us all. As women our fight is not over, and our voices will be heard. Yes we will be challenged (#MeTooMovement) (#EqualPay) (#EqualOpportunities), but we will not stand down. I’m not a big fan of Beyoncé (I knooooww, such an unpopular opinion), but she was right about one thing. We do run the world. #GIRLS
