An Umbrella that was Unprotective

I look at the weather for the next day to plan my outfits accordingly. I see rain and go straight to my rainboots. Now some people, normal people that is would think to themselves " Perhaps I should grab a raincoat or an umbrella." Well, as you very well know, I am not a normal person. Now the word umbrella has many meanings, coming from the Latin word Ombra meaning shade. An umbrella was made to give you shade and protection from the elements of the world. One word that sticks out to me here is "protection". Because the definition I'd use to describe the word in this text "a thing that contains many different elements".

So over the last 5 months or so I have been battling illness after illness. I started this blogging journey after the second encounter Mitral Valve Prolapse. What I didn't know, is that it would not be my last. Every month a new symptom, every month a different doctor. It's sickening to think with all of the school these MD's go through, not one could pinpoint the reason for my varying symptoms. The next to last symptom was the varying chest pain that sent me to what I like to call a "Specialist, Specialist". We talked to him for all of fifteen minutes, and he knew right away, a connective tissue disease. I tested positive for an Autoimmune Disease. I do not know yet which one, but I do want to explain what I do know. There is just something literary about it all.

An autoimmune disease is defined as your immune system attacking the connective tissue in your own body, regarding it as bacteria to rid of. An autoimmune disease causes a snowball effect or can be described as an Umbrella if you will. My body attacks the healthy cells thinking it's protecting me, shading me from bacteria, but in truth it hinders. My bodies defense mechanism has back fired and caused so many different medical disorders in order (somehow) to save me from becoming sick! Sounds about right for my life though.

So now I am here, someone who has counted on my immune system to care for my body only to find out it was the thing causing me pain and illness. It's like matters of the heart, but those same matters should most likely be acted out with the mind. How do you know if what's said to be good for you, truly is ? This can apply, you guessed it; to literally everything from Love, Career, Health, Family, to Friends. Toxicity can come in many forms, but what is so detrimental is the trust we put in believing there is no room for doubt, until it becomes too late. You've already been hindered from the mask of fake protection under this umbrella. I've never been one to carry an umbrella, and now I see why.
